Quote Of The Week

"If one wants to be active, one must not be afraid of going wrong, one must not be afraid of making mistakes now and then. Many people think that they will become good just by doing no harm — but that's a lie... That way lies stagnation, mediocrity."

Do You Remember Rock'N'Roll Radio?

Pete Fornatale
Rest In Peace

"It is with a heavy, heavy heart that I write this message... Pete Fornatale passed away peacefully today at 11:30am. There will be a private wake and funeral service for him.

Fans should know, though, that plans are being made for a memorial tribute to Pete that will be held in the near future. It will be hosted by his friends at WhyHunger, with the support of Pete’s family, his friends, and... of course... his many fans. Information about that event will be made available here.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation be made in Pete Fornatale’s name to WhyHunger, an organization that Pete has been associated with since it was co-founded by his good friend Bill Ayres and the late Harry Chapin in 1975."

Quote Of The Week

"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation. From the desperate city you go into the desperate country, and have to console yourself with the bravery of minks and muskrats. A stereotyped but unconscious despair is concealed even under what are called the games and amusements of mankind. There is no play in them, for this comes after work. But it is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things."

Quote Of The Week

"One of the qualities of liberty is that, as long as it is being striven after, it goes on expanding. Therefore, the man who stands in the midst of the struggle and says, "I have it," merely shows by doing so that he has just lost it."

All City

From director Roger Gastman — a producer of the Academy Award-nominated documentary Exit Through The Gift Shop — comes Wall Writers, a documentary on graffiti in its innocence.

Through unprecedented access to TAKI 183, CORNBREAD, and a host of other legendary writers, Wall Writers tells the story of a time when underprivileged city kids refused to keep lurking in the shadows, when the streets were so wild that fame and infamy became indistinct, when art became a democracy and self-promotion became an art... And the narration is done by John Waters!

Quote Of The Week

"The voice of protest, of warning, of appeal is never more needed than when the clamor of fife and drum, echoed by the press and too often by the pulpit, is bidding all men fall in step and obey in silence the tyrannous word of command. Then, more than ever, it is the duty of the good citizen not to be silent."
